Hertfordshire County Council is encouraging elderly Garston and Watford residents to attend a free Slipper Swap social to reduce the risk of falling.
On Wednesday, November 16, residents will be able to trade in their worn-out slippers for free anti-slip slippers at North Watford library.
These specialised slippers will help prevent at-risk individuals from potentially dangerous falls around the home. At the meeting, there will be further information on how to stay safe and well as we head into winter.
No booking is necessary to attend the event which will take place between 10am and 1pm. There will also be the chance to learn more about local social groups, get cost-of-living information and advice, get advice from occupational therapists and book a Safe and Well visit from the Fire Service.
Small Acts of Kindness volunteers will also be on hand to provide Warm in Winter gift bags.
