SIXTH NOVEL: BAFTA nominated Pinner resident publishes new book

Published on: 15th January 2021   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

Successful author and screenwriter Paul Mendelson, who has lived in Pinner for over 40 years, is set to publish his sixth novel Must Have GSOH next month, on 28 February.

Paul told PinnerNews: “The book is set in Ruislip, and follows the journey of a man who knows everything about plants but nothing about life. It is an investigation of humour in all its forms, it’s a love story that is hopefully very funny and moving.

“I’ve always been interested in senses of humour, why some people have it, and some people don’t. I tend to look at what is funny in a situation.

“Must Have GSOH has been in the works for a long time, I have written it as a movie script, worked on it in different forms and eventually decided it would work best as a novel.”

Paul is also the creator of several hit BBC family-comedy series, including May to December, So Haunt Me and the long-running My Hero.

The BAFTA-nominated sitcom May to December, first shown in 1989, was set and filmed in Pinner. All six series of the popular show are being shown on Forces TV from January.

Paul said: “My favourite thing about Pinner is the atmosphere, how friendly people are and I love BrOOK’s bookshop. They have been big supporters of my work and launches in the past.”

You can pre-order Must Have GSOH at BrOOK’s uk.bookshop.org/shop/brooks or search the title on Amazon.
