Dedicated firefighters from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service have tackled one of their biggest challenges yet in the name of charity.
On Sunday, July 13, a group of helmeted heroes cycled to every fire station across Hertfordshire to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.
The charity helps all serving and retired members of the UK’s fire family to live healthier and happier lives by offering vital support.
Fuelled by community spirit, the riders racked up 180 miles across the day as they paid a visit to the 29 Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service stations that serve the county.
Starting the ride while most of us were sleeping, the team set off at 5am from St Albans Fire Station, stopping along the way at key stations including Hemel Hempstead, Garston, Borehamwood, and Stevenage.
The team at Kings Langley Fire Station fired up the support and waved them on with words of encouragement.
The team shared: “Good luck to the Hertfordshire firefighters who are cycling to every fire station in the county raising funds for the Fire Fighters Charity.”
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “This year’s ride not only supports the charity’s life-changing work, but aims to shine a light on the importance of mental health support in the fire service.
“It also honours the memory of colleagues in Bicester, Oxfordshire, where two firefighters and a member of the public tragically lost their lives two months ago.”
The group raised over £2,000, proving once again that no challenge is too hot to handle. You can find out more and donate at www.shorturl.at/eMZi8
