‘SHARP AND READY’: Professional boxer determined to make Watford community proud

A 28-year-old professional boxer from Watford is coming out swinging as she prepares for another nail-biting fight.

Shannon Ryan (pictured) will enter the ring at York Hall in London on Friday, October 17, for the IBF Intercontinental Super Flyweight Title Championship. The O2-sponsored Matchroom athlete will be up against the former European champion, Chloe Watson.

The fight will aim to bring Shannon one step closer to achieving a world title in 2026, after maintaining back-to-back wins since last year.

The talented athlete lost to Emma Dolan via split decision in the first bout for the British super flyweight title in June 2024, but then made a brilliant comeback in December as she defeated her opponent, Kate Radomska, with a technical knockout at York Hall in December.

Asked how she’s feeling ahead of the fight later this month, Shannon said: “I’m feeling sharp and ready to go! Training’s been intense, but I continue to push past my limits.

“Every session has been about growth and staying disciplined, and I feel like it’s all coming together at the right time.

“My whole career, all I’ve done is trust the process, and this fight will take me one step closer to a world title – my long-term goal.

“I really want to make Watford proud and I can’t wait to show that the hard work, both physically and mentally, is paying off with an impressive win!”

After continued dedication, long training sessions and hard work, Shannon is firmly in a new and exciting chapter of her career. She previously trained in taekwondo and hoped to compete in the 2016 Olympics, but switched to boxing following a hip injury.

The upcoming fight is for an international boxing title for fighters in the super flyweight division, which is a weight class for boxers up to 52.2kg.
