Published on: 14th March 2025   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Police in Watford are appealing for witnesses and information after two serious incidents were reported in as many days.

The first was a robbery inside a chicken shop on The Brow, which happened at 8.10pm on Wednesday, March 12.

Several people allegedly entered the shop and threatened the victim, a man aged in his 20s, with several weapons believed to be machetes before stealing his coat.

The second incident was an attempted assault (GBH) and the subsequent theft of a motor vehicle.

It happened at 12.50pm on Thursday, March 13, next to the parade of shops on The Brow.

The victim, another man aged in his 20s, was allegedly approached by several people who threatened him with a machete before stealing his vehicle – a blue BMW – which was later found abandoned in Clarke Green.

A short time later officers recovered the vehicle and a machete, both of which they seized as part of their ongoing investigation.

In both incidents, neither victim was physically harmed.

Detective Constable Jennifer Stoddart, from Watford’s Local Crime Unit, said: “Following our fast-time enquiries, we can confirm that we are now treating these incidents as linked.

“We’re currently exploring several avenues of investigation but are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of either incident, and may have seen something that could assist police.

“We understand that news of these crimes will be unsettling for the local community, but we would like to reassure the public that we’re doing all we can to ascertain the circumstances and identify the perpetrators.

“If you have any information that you believe could help us, then please get in touch quoting reference 41/23581/25.”
