Seniors Helping Seniors is an organisation dedicated to helping Pinner’s older community members.
The business allows retired or semi-retired individuals to make use of their time by helping other people who need a bit of extra care.
MyPinnerNews spoke to George Demetriou, who opened the Pinner, Harrow and Northwood branch of the originally American Seniors Helping Seniors in 2016.
He said: “I opened the branch after seeing an advert for Seniors Helping Seniors on a flight to America.
“They said they were looking for a few kind hearted entrepreneurs to expand their business. Something about it really appealed to me. I’m 70 and retired myself, and I just thought their principles were excellent.
“They were making use of people like me, where there wasn’t really much for us to do once we’d finished our careers, and giving us purpose in helping those who want to live independently but perhaps need some extra help.
“It’s a paid for service, where the person who needs help pays someone who is willing to give it to them.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for people to do something really worthwhile, they’re bringing joy to other people’s lives. It’s therapeutic having that companionship and seeing the pleasure on their faces.”
