A selfless 15-year-old girl from Bushey has once again shown her appreciation for the NHS by organising care packages for Watford Hospital’s maternity ward staff.
Charlotte Davis raised over £600 for the hospitals Starfish Ward in the first lockdown, by running the distance of a marathon every week.
This time around, Charlotte has shown support by organising donations for the maternity department, after she heard that certain parts of the NHS were missing out on care packages.
Emma Davis, Charlotte’s mother said: “We are very proud. Charlotte is very selfless and always puts other people first, which is an amazing trait. She is so driven and hates injustice.”
Charlotte is a volunteer for charity My Yard, which connects surplus food with communities to eliminate food insecurity and aims to build safe inspiring places for young people. Last year Charlotte was awarded for her outreach work by The Jack Petchey Foundation.
Charlotte used her initiative and contacts at My Yard to organise the donation of care packages for all the maternity staff at Watford Hospital. She also handmade rainbow bands to brighten the day of NHS staff.
The care package donations included self-care and hygiene products, food, water, bags of snacks and colouring sets.
Emma continued: “I couldn’t believe that at her age she could even pick up the phone and organise all this herself. She hasn’t been able to get to Watford yet to present staff with the cheque from the first lockdown, but will do so when able.”
Charlotte is no longer running a marathon a week, but her donation page will remain open until restrictions lift and she can visit the hospital with a cheque.
