Schoolgirls learn how to live in the wild

Published on: 25th June 2018   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A group of schoolgirls has learnt all about life in the wild following a bushcraft activity day.

The girls from year three and four at Charlotte House Preparatory School in Rickmansworth learnt all about how to survive in nature on Friday, June 15, as well as having a go at some other problem solving activities and sports, including archery, fire starting with flints and shelter making.

Some of the girls camped out under the stars after cooking their tea over the camp fire, while enjoying a sing song around a campfire with toasted marshmallows.

It is hoped that the day will help the girls develop teamwork skills as well as great memories and the head of Charlotte House Prep School, Penny Woodcock, was delighted to see the girls working together as a team.

She said: “The girls have really got stuck into the activities and it is great to see them working as a team and being so resilient when faced with tough challenges. It is days like today they will look back at so fondly in the future; we aren’t just educating them we are creating memories.”
