Students at a Bushey school are now able to enjoy new net-zero buildings, as Morgan Sindall Construction officially hands over the state-of-the-art Little Reddings Primary School.
Built on behalf of the Department of Education, the school is operated by the Bushey St James Trust.
The project was delivered in two phases. The first phase handed over in summer 2024 and now the final stages have been completed. Work throughout was carefully scheduled to minimise disruption to the live school environment.
For phase one, Morgan Sindall Construction built a new two-storey, two-form entry primary school, consisting of 15 classrooms, in the playing fields adjacent to the former school.
Phase two involved demolishing the old buildings and delivering a new multi-use games area, a full-size Sport England pitch, upgraded car parks, a refurbished creche, and enhanced landscaping.
Designed to be net zero in operation, the project incorporates ground source heat pumps, a bio-solar roof, and a Streif timber system to reduce carbon.
Josh MacAlister, Minister for Children and Families, said: “It is fantastic to see pupils at Little Reddings Primary School are now learning in a school that is not only fit for the future, but somewhere that they can feel proud of and want to learn in every day.”
