A “refreshing and vibrant” exhibition brought river landscapes to life at Harrow Arts Centre from October 17 to 30.
Around 25 paintings were brought together to create a visually dynamic and cohesive exhibition.
Two artists created the exhibition based on their meanderings around the natural environment and aimed to immerse viewers into changing landscapes through their paintings.
New Blood Emerging nominee Arlene draws inspiration from space and colour, translating a memory of a place onto canvas.
Winner of the Freelands Painting Prize in 2023, Dhama Thanigasapapathy merges her interests in science and the power and beauty of climate phenomena.
From the two large paintings of Richmond River views, which illuminated the back wall of the gallery, to the grid of eight small square canvases and the expressive sketchbook work, the show demonstrated the depth of research and background undertaken by the artists.
At the exhibition, one attendee said: “I imagine this is the way landscape painting should be approached!”
Speaking to Pinnernews about the exhibition, the artists said: “We were committed to producing an exhibition which showed our paintings at their best. We were delighted with the curatorial decisions we took and look forward to future collaborative ventures. We’d like to thank everyone who visited our exhibition for their support.”
