Chalfont St Peter residents have expressed their sadness over a Post Office in Chalfont St Peter closing down.
The Post Office branch in Rickmansworth Lane closed down and people believe it is because it was not used enough by residents.
Locals took to Facebook and expressed their sadness over the news.
One person said: “I started work there in the mid 60’s in the little Post Office – I loved it as you met anyone and everyone, and my dad always walked round there to get his daily paper – such a loss to everyone.”
Locals also mentioned how the owners of the Post Office supported the residents of the Epilepsy Society’s Chalfont Centre.
A resident commented: “Yes, sad news. The family worked hard and were often social workers, a listening ear for the residents of the epilepsy centre.”
Another local added: “Shame Chalfont Common Post Office closed, it was lovely to have it in the village. Now there will be only one around. It was also used by epileptic residents who relied on it when we moved here in 1976.”
I am very sorry to hear and read that chalkont common Po has got shut.. my name is Abdulla ajani and now I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I was subpostmastet at that wonderful Po from 1981 to 1996. Me and my family, my family, Shamim, ameen and saleem, ran that Po for so many years and residents treated us like we all were family members. They loved us so much and treated us like sons and daughter. We also treated them very well and helped them, where we can with respect and with full heart. Residents were amazing there. I am very sorry for them. I love them all. Abdulla ajani 604 765 2038
