Police are on the lookout for a group of youths who were seen terrorising residents near Woodside Leisure Centre in Garston.

At around 7pm on September 20, local resident Molly Fleming was driving to pick up her brother when her car was suddenly hailed with stones.

She said: “I saw a group of kids sitting on the bench along the road. I saw two of the children reach to the ground and pick up handfuls of stones and throw them at the car as I drove past, hitting my windscreen and windows. I stopped the car immediately as I got a huge fright.

“As I got out of the car, one of the boys grabbed another handful of stones and threw them at me.”

Although it was getting dark, she managed to identify a group of five boys and one girl as the culprits, aged between 11 and 14.

She said: “The girl looked like she was wearing a Future Academies uniform, but I couldn’t be certain. They ran up to the side of the leisure centre. I now need to replace my windscreen due to multiple chips and one big crack.”

A spokesperson for Herts Police said: “A second report was received in which stones were thrown at another car; however, no damage was reported.

“Anyone who witnessed the incidents or has information about them is asked to report it online at herts.police.uk/report quoting ISR 801 of September 20.”

Gary Foley, contract manager at Everyone Active and speaking on behalf of Woodside Leisure Centre, said they hadn’t received a report of the incident but insisted “we are happy to work with authorities on any matters that may not have been brought to our attention”.

Future Academies Watford has been contacted for comment.
