Croxley residents were left “shocked” earlier this month when an inconsiderate motorist tore up the prized village green with their car.
Villagers woke up on the morning of Friday, December 2 to find parts of the normally well-kept fields that make up the natural area had been muddied and torn up with vehicle tread marks.
The identity of the perpetrator is currently unknown, but it can be assumed that the reasoning behind their action was the minor diversion that had been made on the Green at the time, with the driver lacking the patience to go through it.
Further residents were made aware of the incident by the Croxley Green Parish Council, who posted pictures of the damage done online, as well as statement.
The message reads: “Unfortunately, not everyone could be bothered to take an extra two minutes out of their day to follow a simple diversion and instead chose to trash our village green.
“The police have been informed and anybody seen driving not on the highway can be issued with a notice from the police which may lead to the seizure of your vehicle.
“Please be considerate, respect Croxley Green and drive safely.”
Residents were quick to react to the events, with one stating they were “shocked” and another stating that the incident was “beyond belief.”
