Croxley’s own Muay Thai boxing champion Ellie Harber is set to represent her country once again at two upcoming events.
Ellie, 17, had a phenomenally successful 2022, winning a European title in July, a silver medal at the World Youth Games in August, and her first semi-pro fight in November.
Now, following an appearance at the Amateur Rules World Open Event in Great Yarmouth, Ellie has once again been selected to be part of Team England for two major events in the Muay Thai calendar.
The first, the World Muaythai Federation Championships, is held in the sport’s spiritual home of Bangkok, Thailand, and is set to take place from March 13 to 20.
The second is the World Boxing Council Festival, which encompasses many kinds of boxing and will take place in Venice, Italy, from June 22 to 25.
Ellie said: “This is a busy period for me, and I am super excited. I love competing and the opportunity to compete at high levels across three countries is fantastic.
“None of this is possible without the support of my coach Lyndon Knowles, who continues to push me hard, so I can be the best I can be, and the rest of my support team, Lydia Caryer (strength and conditioning coach), and my dad (driver, bill payer and chief supporter). I would like to say a big thank you to them all.”
Ellie is looking for sponsorship to allow her to continue competing in the sport she loves. If you are interested, please contact Emma Isichei on emmaisichei@hotmail.com
