Tributes have been paid to a former Abbots Langley vicar who passed away at the age of 85.
Canon Brian Andrews was born in 1939 and passed away on Thursday, September 12. Between 1979 and 2005, he was the much-loved vicar at St Lawrence Church, presiding over services in the village for more than 25 years.
In a tribute posted on social media, a spokesperson for the church said: “He was a much-loved servant of his Lord and held a special place in the hearts of the people of this parish. He died peacefully on Thursday. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.”
Local residents have shared messages of condolences and fond memories of Brian. Many spoke of how important he had been in their spiritual journey and described him as a deeply kind man who had helped them during difficult times.
One read: “I’m sad to hear this. He was a lovely man with a wicked sense of humour. He encouraged us in our Christian journey, and we will be forever grateful. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”
Another stated: “Rest in peace, Canon Andrews. A kind, lovely man. It was a pleasure to know you.”
