Residents in Chalfont St Giles are being urged to join in a village clean-up day in a bid to ensure it stays as one of the best in the county.

The clean-up, which takes place from 10am on May 25, is taking place ahead of judging for the 2019 Bucks Best Kept Village.

The competition has been running for more than 60 years and is a popular showcase for the county’s villages and towns.

Last year Chalfont St Giles won The Pushman Cup for villages with a population of more than 3,000.

This year they have been entered in The Tindall Cup which is a competition between all of the category winners from last year in what is essentially a cup winners cup.

In a plea for volunteers to help in the tidy day, Chalfont St Giles Parish Council, said: “Whilst it’s difficult to win the Tindall Cup it is not impossible and we would like all to do your bit to help us achieve this accolade.

“This year there is a new judging criteria for floral displays. We would like our shops and businesses to ensure that their hanging baskets are in tip top condition and those residents with gardens to the front of their properties to take a little extra care.”

Judging takes place between June 1 and July 7.

To join in the tidy day turn up to the village green at 10am on May 25.
