The lack of an on-site housing manager, faulty fire doors, and parking issues are just some of the “repeated failures” a local MP highlighted on behalf of a Bushey retirement community in Parliament.
Alongside Bushey Park councillor Marc Amron, Sir Oliver Dowden CBE, MP for Hertsmere, met with residents of Meadowcroft to discuss their concerns with housing provider Anchor.
Sir Oliver MP raised the matter at Business Questions in Parliament on Thursday, May 22.
He said: “[Residents] have suffered repeated failures by Anchor homes, which has culminated in residents not being able to get an ambulance to that facility because of a faulty key box.”
The Leader of the House replied: “I’m really sorry to hear of the shocking incident… It’s important that we do make sure that our care homes are operating to the highest standards, that they have the best people working there, and that all the residents can be safe and cared for.”
An Anchor spokesperson said: “The welfare of our residents is our top priority. We have been in contact with Sir Oliver’s office and have arranged a meeting to discuss the concerns he has raised.”
