Published on: 15th October 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

Local residential care home for the elderly, The Abbeyfield St Albans Society – Grace Muriel House has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

The Caring UK Awards are now in their third year and the home has beaten off competition from hundreds of others across the UK to be shortlisted in the ‘Activities Team’ and ‘Training’ categories.

The annual event recognises excellence and achievement in care homes throughout the country with shortlisted facilities being as far north as northern Scotland and as far south as Devon.

Registered manager, Annette Gibbons, said: “Our activities team work really hard to ensure we have strong links throughout the community especially the local schools, embracing inter-generational projects and events.

“With the support of the whole team they are brilliant at providing engagement and wellbeing activities and enrich the lives of our residents every day.

“Grace Muriel has been a source of local employment for many years and we invest in our staff through training and development, having our very own head of training.

“We have found that by expanding our training well beyond mandatory training, not only does our team have wider knowledge and expertise, the overall care, health and happiness of our resident’s benefits from their skills.

“Grace Muriel House has been providing fantastic care for over 40 years and is rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC, but to have the Training and Activities recognised in this way means a great deal to us.

The training manager and activities team always go over and above, so we are really, really, proud that they have been shortlisted.”

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday, November 15 at The Athena in Leicester.
