Homeowners in the Three Rivers area can make use of a new app launched by the district council that aims to provide simple tips to save money with energy pricing.
Partnering with the UK’s Energy Saving Trust (EST), Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) has launched the Hertfordshire Energy Advice Tool (HEAT), a free to download application.
Users go through a virtual tour of a typical home, answering questions about their habits and use of appliances, giving advice throughout on energy reduction.
Once the tour is finished, the app will offer quick and low/no-cost methods to not only save money on energy bills but also reduce a household’s carbon footprint. A personalised report can be provided as well.
Cllr Phil Williams, Lead Member for Environmental Services, Climate Change and Sustainability, said: “This new, innovative app will go a long way to helping residents save money while helping us reach our district-wide target of net-zero carbon by 2045.
“Making seemingly small every-day changes at home can have a significant impact on our energy use, and if all of us do it together, it could have a significant impact on our district’s emissions.”
It’s estimated £70 a year could be saved using the HEAT app. It can be downloaded via the App Store for Apple and the Google Play Store. For further information, visit the EST’s website at https://energysavingtrust.org.uk/.
