Police are appealing for two people who helped a victim of sexual assault in St Albans to come forward.
The incident took place between 1pm and 2pm on Thursday, April 10, when someone reportedly tried to inappropriately touch a woman while she was walking through Verulamium Park.
The victim, aged in her 60s, later approached a man and a woman who were sitting on a bench around the lake, located near to the bridge that leads up towards the cathedral.
After disclosing the incident to them, the woman supported the victim in reporting what happened to the police.
Detective Constable Emily Foley, from the St Albans Local Crime Unit, said: “I appreciate the nature of this incident is concerning, and I am continuing to appeal for witnesses as we piece together what happened.
“I am particularly keen to speak to the two people mentioned above, as they may have important information to help progress the investigation and their details were not obtained.
“Following enquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed with strict conditions while the investigation continues.
