Residents of Chorleywood are praising Hitesh Dodhia, who has gone above and beyond in serving the community for years as a pharmacist at Parade Pharmacy.
Sue Quelch moved to Chorleywood in 1995 and says that Hitesh is known by everyone in the community. She said: “If anyone has a health concern, Hitesh is the first port of call. It’s quite common to hear someone say, ‘I’ll have a word with Hitesh first.’
“He has an outstanding manner. I often hear him on the phone, reassuring elderly people, sorting out their prescriptions, reminding them of what they normally use or have and checking on how they are.”
Sue says that whilst her husband has been going through prostate cancer treatment, Hitesh has been of great support and is himself involved in local support group the Friends of Prostate Sufferers. Hitesh consistently gives advice and support beyond simply dispensing medication, by offering herbal remedies, diet and lifestyle recommendations, and self-help groups.
Hitesh provides the additional service of liaising with doctors.
Sue said: “He always has time for you and genuinely remembers who you are and what’s going on in your life. To say he is a pillar of the community is an understatement. He is everyone’s hero when it comes to dealing with the lack of this from the GP. He always has a kind word, helpful suggestion and time to speak to you.”
