‘PERFECT PAIRING’: Orchestra’s winter concert in Watford promises ‘epic’ performance

Tickets are now on sale for an orchestra performance in Watford that promises an “evening of beautiful music”.

Audentior Symphony Orchestra’s (ASO) Winter Warmers concert will take place at St Michael and All Angels Church on Mildred Avenue at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 13.

The performance will feature Brahms’ first symphony and Beethoven’s fifth symphony.

ASO conductor John Brennan explained: “For me, it seemed to be a perfect pairing.

“It also matches the symphony we played in our summer 2025 concert – Tchaikovsky’s fourth symphony. Tchaikovsky called his fourth symphony Fate, and was feeling as low as Beethoven was when he wrote his fifth. Tchaikovsky admired the work and based his fourth on it – so I’ve sort of tied it all in, from summer to winter.”

The orchestra’s preparations have gone well, despite less rehearsal time than usual after ASO performed a Halloween-themed concert in October.

Daisy Stephens from ASO added: “Our ticket sales are looking pretty healthy, although we do sell the majority of our tickets in the last week or so before the concert. Our events have sold out in the past, so if you want to come, it is better to book early.

“If you haven’t ever seen an orchestra before, then it really is worth giving it a try – the sound that comes from 60 or so people all playing the same piece of music really is epic, especially in a venue like St Michael’s where the music just fills the space.”

ASO are always on the lookout for more players to join and also offer a season ticket for audience members who want to attend multiple performances.
