PEARSON SACKED: Watford FC manager reportedly sacked with two games to go

Published on: 19th July 2020   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Watford FC

Watford FC manager Nigel Pearson has reportedly been sacked by the club with just a week of the 2019/20 season left.

The shock move has happened with two huge Premier League games remaining for the Hornets, who sit just one place and three points above the relegation zone.

Watford FC are yet to confirm their decision.

Pearson was the third manager to take the reins at Watford during this dizzying campaign – Javi Gracia was replaced by Quique Sanchez Flores in early September, who Pearson then took over from in December.

The former Leicester manager took over with the Hornets sitting rock bottom of the table, but he managed to haul them out of the relegation zone after wins against the likes of Manchester United, Wolves and Liverpool earlier this year.

Pearson’s contract was set to expire at the end of this season and while the Watford board are well known for their swift and, at times, erratic sackings, few Hornets fans would’ve seen this one coming.

The two last fixtures of Watford’s season, against Man City at home and Arsenal away, looked challenging enough before the decision.
