PARKING PROBLEM: Parking restrictions creating issues for shoppers in Bushey

Published on: 23rd March 2023   |   By: Holly Bullen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Business owners in Bushey are calling for a solution to parking problems.

Concerns have been raised over limited free parking and a lack of available spaces near the shops on the High Street.

Speaking to BUSHEYnews, Sarah Waite, owner of Mavis of Bushey, said there has been a decrease in footfall since changes to parking regulations.

She said: “We are all concerned about the parking and it preventing people from going to the shops.

“The car park in Kemp Place is free parking for an hour whereas it used to be two hours. That used to be enough to go up and down the shops but now it makes it really tight.”

A Hertsmere Borough Council spokesperson said: “We’re mindful of the financial challenges facing businesses and residents, and that is why we took the decision that parking charges across our car parks, including Bushey, would remain the same this year, despite the mounting inflationary pressures involved in delivering our own services.

“Charging after the first hour of parking was introduced at Kemp Place car park to bring it more into line with our other car parks.”
