An award-winning children’s author recently visited pupils at a Garston school.
Sophy Henn, author and illustrator of a number of books including the Pizazz series, visited Cherry Tree Primary School in October.
The schoolchildren took part in several activities which linked to the plots of Sophy’s stories, including measuring the length of a squid’s tentacles using string and drawing a red panda, following instructions from Sophy.
They also learned how books are written, illustrated and published, and how Sophy first developed her love of writing and fascination with the world around her.
Over the last few months, a number of authors including former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen, Andy Griffiths, Sam Copeland and Jenny Pearson have visited the school.
School administrator Karleen said: “At Cherry Tree, we love reading and the inspiration these authors brings to all our children is fantastic.”
