A Rickmansworth-based project supporting people with Parkinson’s through exercise and table tennis has recently been named one of Three Rivers’ first Community Champions.
Parkinson’s Paddle Power, run by Bounce Back Exercise, gives people with Parkinson’s a fun, sociable and structured way to stay active. Exercise has been shown to be highly beneficial in managing symptoms and slowing progression of the disease.
Since launching in February 2025, the project has welcomed 18 participants, who have reported improved fitness and enhanced social wellbeing.
Parkinson’s Paddle Power will now receive free facility access, with the backing of William Penn Leisure Centre, and promotional support to allow them to reach more people in the community.
Beth Boxall, organiser of Parkinson’s Paddle Power, said: “I was absolutely delighted to be named a Community Champion. It’s a wonderful recognition of Bounce Back Exercise and our aim to support people with Parkinson’s, as well as those living with other long-term health conditions, through our exercise classes.
“I hope this spotlight will raise awareness of the benefits of exercise for those living with Parkinson’s.”
