St John’s Church has formally reopened on Gills Hill Lane, Radlett, following a rebuild project that spanned two years.
On Sunday, October 15, over 160 people congregated to attend the opening of the new church building.
Many former clergy from Radlett attended, including Christopher Newton who was the Church’s Vicar from 1958-66. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant gave the first reading from the Book of Chronicles, the Archdeacon dedicated the lectern and the Bishop of St. Albans preached the sermon.
The event was also attended by members of the wider community, including the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, the Chair of Aldenham Parish Council and members of other local churches and synagogues.
During one part of the service, children and adults shared their hopes for the new church building as a place of refuge, joy, celebration, and unity in Radlett.
Vicar Oliver Blease told RadlettNews: “St. John’s is a community space, for unity, flourishing, and celebration. As we sang together in our first hymn: ‘All are welcome in this place’.”
The church hall space is available for hire and the parish office is contactable on 01923 859963 or radlettchurchoffice@gmail.com.
