NEW VENTURE: The Rocky Sisters from Bushey shocked with success during lockdown

Published on: 23rd July 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

Two sisters from Bushey have taken a hobby to unexpected heights during lockdown by baking unique Rocky Road cakes, which have proved to be extremely popular in the area.

Amelia Rubens, 19, and her sister Jessica, 24, decided to set up an Instagram page showing off their creations, but little did they know they were to amass over 1,000 followers and taking orders from across the county.

Amelia, who is a student studying Psychology, admits they both didn’t expect it to turn into this but is now even considering expanding it nationally.

She said: “My sister and I were just cooking one day and thought it could be a fun and easy thing to do. We looked online for inspiration and realised that no one else had really done something like this before, so we then came up with a few flavours and it’s just taken off from there.

“We take great pride in our packaging and want to make them look as appealing as possible. It has been an amazing success and something that has kept us really busy during lockdown.”

Jessica is a schoolteacher and has since gone back to work, but Amelia is not returning to her studies until at least September so will be continuing for the time being.
