NEW EXHIBITION: Radlett artist to showcase her recent work

Published on: 12th March 2020   |   By: Amneet Kaur   |   Category: Uncategorized

Radlett artist, Alison Wisenfeld, is exhibiting her new work at the Peggy Jay Gallery, Burgh House, in Hempstead from April 15 to April 19.

The exhibition, which will be open from 12pm to 17pm, is called “Three Studios”.

It’s a collection of three artists: Glynnis Abraham, Lizzie Sturm and Alison herself.

They all worked individually and came together to exhibit their work at the gallery, that is why the exhibition is named “Three Studios”.

Alison’s work took several months prepare.

She loves art and her style is inspired by the religious paintings of medieval Italy.

She also has a passion for children’s books.

The artist said: “When I read children’s books, they just fire my imagination and bring everything to life. The illustration, the feel of the paper and the story, they all become real.

“I took a new approach while working on this exhibition, which allowed me much more freedom to express myself.

“I’m excited –  it’s a beautiful venue to showcase my work and if the coronavirus situation doesn’t get in the way, I’m sure it will all be good. I will also be exhibiting at the art festival in Radlett.”

Alison’s work can be seen in a wide range of publications.

Her illustrations have been used in advertising, magazines and newspaper articles, moving later to books.

She won the prestigious Times Literary Supplement Information Book of the Year for her first children’s book, The Tree, alongside author Judy Hindley.

The other two artists’ work is also very interesting.

Glynnis has a strong South African influence in what she does, the colours she uses are rich and vibrant.

On the other hand, Lizzie recently came back from Japan, where she learnt the Japanese art of paper making.

She grows her own vegetables and uses their fibres to produce the paper and colour it.
