NEW CHAPTER: Abbots Langley Community centre vice chair says ‘it is the right time’ to stand back

Published on: 7th October 2025   |   By: Naomi Greenaway   |   Category: Uncategorized

It’s a fond farewell for the Abbots Langley Community Centre (ALCC) as vice chair Richard Kennell steps down from his role.

Richard has served as vice chair for the past year, which comes after a respectable seven years in the role of chair. He also acted as building manager and served diligently on ALCC’s Management Committee.

Having been a long-serving member of the ALCC, Richard has now decided to focus his attention on his retirement and other projects in the long term.

As reported in ABBOTSnews last year, the Postcode Lottery donated £10,000 to the ALCC as part of funding given to charities and community organisations across Hertfordshire.

Richard says that the money has been put to good use, with the interior of the centre and the front of the building being redecorated. More projects are set to take place in the future.

Asked how he felt about his decision to retire, Richard said: “Looking back, I’ve been fortunate to have a good team on the committee which has enabled us to keep the centre running smoothly, particularly during the COVID outbreak.

“With new members on the committee at our recent AGM, I’m confident that the centre will have a bright future under our chair, Eryl McNally, and that it is indeed the right time for me to stand back and let others take things forward.”
