Housebuilders confirm plans to build over 100 new apartments as part of the new Riverwell neighbourhood after Watford Borough Council granted permission for a total of 408 apartments within three apartment blocks in Riverwell to be built earlier this year.

Bellway announced their plans to build 144 apartments after contracts were exchanged on site south of Thomas Sawyer Way, within the Waterside area of Riverwell, and the deal is expected to be completed this month.

Located next to the River Colne, Waterside is the latest residential neighbourhood within Riverwell, which is transforming the land to the south of Watford General Hospital and Watford Football Club.

Bellway North London will be building a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, including 33 new homes designated as affordable housing, in an apartment building which will form the first phase of construction in Riverwell.

The development of Waterside at Riverwell will also see the creation of a stunning riverfront park for the public to enjoy, with access via footbridges to Colne Island, where new meadowland, an enhanced riverbank and an adventure playground will be provided.

Greg Allsop, Sales and Marketing Director for Bellway North London, said: “With contracts now exchanged on the land at Riverwell we are looking forward to starting construction work on site here.

“According to Rightmove, 42 per cent of Londoners are looking to buy outside of London, and Watford is currently the number one choice.”
