NEED FOR SPEED: 5-year-old racer from Croxley Green leads winter championship

Published on: 2nd February 2022   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

A young motorcycle racer from Croxley Green is going from strength to strength, currently with a commanding lead in the winter championships.

Jake Avis, aged 5, has a need for speed and regularly takes part in motocross competitions across the country on his PW50 bike. Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits.

He got his first bike when he was just three years old and began racing in competitions in May 2021. Jake has not looked back since, competing in club championships across winter and summer seasons and winning his latest race.

Jake’s dad, Martin, told CroxleyNews: “There are no words to describe the pride I felt when he won his first race, I think there were 18 young riders in the race. It was absolutely amazing.

“Jake loves motocross, he enjoys other sports like football too but he lives for the thrill of racing. You can see now that he is really starting to get a bit more competitive and wanting to win.”

Any local businesses interested in sponsoring the up and coming racer can contact his parents via his social media pages. To keep up to date with Jake’s motocross progress, follow his Instagram account ‘Jakenumber4mx’.
