Money raised for Live at Home

The generous captain of Moor Park Golf Club has been busy with fundraising during his captaincy reign, raising funds for a scheme to help older people in the area. The Northwood Live at Home Scheme received a cheque for £2,125 from the retiring captain, Joe Sandercock, at their Wednesday Lunch Club on February 11. Joe, who is also a trustee of Michael Sobell Hospice, decided to split the funds raised between the two charities.  Members of Moor Park Golf Club and their friends and family raised the money through various social events. Chairman Jo Wild who accepted the cheque in the presence of some of the Charity’s members and staff said: “We’re extremely grateful for this generous donation which enables us to continue our valued work supporting older people in the local community.” The Northwood Live at Home Scheme exists to support anyone over the age of 60 living independently in the Northwood and Northwood Hills area who is maybe feeling isolated and can’t get out as they used to. The Scheme runs various regular activities in addition to the Lunch Club, including two chair-based exercise classes and a Friendship Group in Northwood Hills, as well as shopping trips and outings to places of interest.  For those members too frail to attend events, the Scheme offers a befriending service by trained volunteers.  Transport is also provided.  New members and volunteers are always welcome.  For more details contact 01923 842494 or visit our webpage below.
