Hertfordshire Police have been granted permission to continue to hold nearly £38,000 cash which was seized by officers during a raid in Croxley Green.

An address on Baldwins Lane in Croxley Green was raided on September 11, 2020 and thousands of pounds of cash and Rolex watches were discovered by Police.

On March 18, 2022, The Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) applied for the continued detention of £37,825 due to “having reasonable grounds for suspecting that it is recoverable property obtained through unlawful conduct”.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “Officers carried out a warrant at an address in Baldwins Lane, Croxley Green on September 11, 2020.

“Two men were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and items including cash and watches were seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act while an investigation was carried out.

“There was no further action taken against the men in relation to the drugs offences, however the assets remain seized at this time while financial investigations continue.”

Despite the fact that on this occasion no further action was taken on in relation to drug offences if property is seized that the suspect cannot legitimately account for then they can still be investigated for that even without an associated prosecution.
