A Chorleywood-based charity will now be able to support even more young people with learning disabilities after receiving a generous donation.
West Herts Charity Trust has donated a new electric Citroën van to Mission EmployAble.
Richard Minashi, director of the trust, first got in touch with Mission EmployAble to ask whether a minibus or electric van might be useful for moving the charity’s interns between different parts of their training.
The new van was unveiled at a ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday, November 26, outside Mission EmployAble’s café on Chorleywood Common. Paul Miller, chairman of the West Herts Charity Trust, had the honour of cutting the ribbon, joined by Richard and Matthew who helped to get the project off the ground.
Also in attendance was the Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss CBE, who said: “I was thrilled to help celebrate such a special donation and know just how helpful this van will be for our interns and the whole Mission EmployAble team. A huge thanks to both charities for the amazing contribution to the community in Hertfordshire.”
Erica Bendall, trustee of Mission EmployAble, said: “A big thank you to West Herts Charity Trust for their generosity, and to our brilliant interns — several of whom bundled up and braved the cold to be there for the big moment. Their smiles said it all!”
