Milly’s set to open in old Tophams Bakery premises in Abbots Langley

The owner of Millys Traditional Family Bakers in Borehamwood has revealed to My Abbots News that he is on the verge of signing a lease to take over the old Tophams Bakery premises. The shops proprietor, John Wenzel, hopes to open a second branch of his family bakers on Abbots High Street by the end of April. He said: “It’s all in the hands of the solicitors at the moment. “Everything has been agreed with Mansbridge now, so hopefully we will sign really soon… I’d say it’s 99 percent definite.” John’s father and uncle were both bakers and founded their own business in 1975, and according to the Millys website, John naturally joined the family business at 16-years-old. After spending 20-years becoming a master-baker, John teamed up with lifelong friend and fellow baker, Andy Dulake, to open Milly’s Bakery in 2010. John, who has lived in Abbots Langley for years, says that he has received widespread support from the local community regarding opening a Milly’s in the village. “Everybody I’ve spoken to says that they want a bakery,” he said. “My little boy goes to Abbots Primary School and all the parents we’ve talked to, think that it’s a good idea too.” Read more in April’s My Abbots News
