Watford FC Women’s star Anna Filbey failed to conquer her fear of heights during a first-time sponsored skydive.
The ambassador for West Herts Hospitals Charity leapt out of the plane on June 20 after a richly successful campaign with her club – sealing promotion to the second-highest English division, the Women’s Championship.
Despite a fear of heights, as reported in last month’s WatfordNews, the midfielder raised over £1,500 in the challenge – but not without any struggles.
Filbey said: “It was absolutely terrifying, but an amazing experience. Stepping out of that plane was completely out of my comfort zone, and I certainly have not conquered my fear of heights, but knowing it was for the Starfish Children’s Ward kept me focused.
“Hospitals can be incredibly stressful places, particularly for young patients who are isolated due to illness, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the appeal so far.”
The Hornets player joined Watford ahead of the 2024/25 season and quickly became a fan-favourite by securing the Goal of the Season award in her opening campaign.
A year later, Filbey became an ambassador for the Hertfordshire charity in May 2025 and has looked to support the NHS by helping provide enhancements that go above and beyond core government funding.

“Facing such a personal fear to support our local NHS hospitals is a testament to her fantastic commitment as an ambassador.”
All proceeds will benefit the charity’s Caring for Generations appeal, specifically funding the much-needed refurbishment of isolation rooms on the Starfish children’s ward at Watford General Hospital.
