MENTAL HEALTH ACT: Man throwing items from balcony in Hemel Hempstead detained by police

A road in Hemel Hempstead was closed this morning as a precaution after police received reports of a man throwing items from the balcony of a flat.

Police were called to an address in Swan Court, Waterhouse Street, just before 6am today, responding to a concern for welfare.

The road remained closed until around 10am while the area was cleared and the individual was detained under the mental health act.

Herts Police took to social media and requested people to avoid the road while closed, they wrote: “We continue to respond to an incident in Hemel Hempstead and would ask members of the public if they can temporarily avoid Waterhouse Street as road closures are still in place.

“One man has been safely detained for medical assessment and inquiries continue going at the scene. We hope to resolve the matter as quickly as possible and will keep you updated.”
