MARVELLOUS MANDALIAS: Sporty Radlett family raise more than £2,000 for charity

Published on: 12th May 2021   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

A young Radlett family raised £2,800 for charity through an intense running challenge.

Avni and Rahul Mandalia, who are nine and seven years old respectively, ran 5k every day for 10 days earlier in the year alongside their parents, Neel and Sapna, to raise money for two charities.

Avni chose to support Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, which provides support for babies, children and young people with life-threatening conditions, while Rahul chose RAISE, which supports staff and patients across Hemel Hempstead Hospital, St Albans City Hospital and Watford General Hospital.

Their mum, Sapna, told RadlettNews: “We were blown away by the support.

“Obviously, people were incredibly generous with donations, but they were also incredibly encouraging during our daily runs.

“We did it in the middle of lockdown, so there were lots of people walking around the area as we ran, and they all shouted words of encouragement as we went.

“It was so helpful that we actually ended up running an extra kilometre each day!”

Sapna added that a future 10k challenge may be on the cards for the Mandalias one day.
