LOVELY GESTURE: Cancelled Kings Langley festival funds directed to support local causes

Published on: 31st July 2021   |   By: Holly Bullen   |   Category: Uncategorized

As the uncertainty of the pandemic continues with high case numbers nationwide many organisers have made the difficult decision to cancel events.

After the postponement on KingsFest in 2020 many Kings Langley residents were awaiting the festival this summer.

However organisers made the difficult decision to cancel the renamed ‘Festival of Kings’ event but didn’t let the money raised for the event go to waste.

Instead around £5,000 was donated to local causes; the Waterside Centre, the Monday Club and the Kings Langley Carnival (pictured) committee.

Organiser Bob Best shared his delight at supporting the local causes on the KingsFest Facebook group.

He wrote: “When all is said and done, it just goes to show what a great community we are! It will happen one day, but it’s nice to see local charities receiving the money from all of us.

“We are all disappointed that we couldn’t kick ‘The Festival of Kings’ off on this occasion. However we will be back.”

Of the £5,000 half went to the Waterside Centre, with the Monday Club with receiving £1,500 and £1,000 to the Kings Langley Carnival committee.
