‘LOUD NUISANCE’: Abbots Langley residents share concerns over hotel’s proposed licence changes

Published on: 8th October 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A hotel in Hunton Bridge is aiming to extend its operating licence, raising concern among some neighbouring residents.

Hunton Park Hotel, located on Essex Lane, has submitted an application to make several changes to its current agreement.

The hotel wishes to add its garden marquee to the licence, which allows live music, recorded music, dancing, and the serving of alcohol until 11pm from Sunday to Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday.

It is also looking to gain permission to show films and remove current conditions relating to CCTV, incident responses and liaisons with the emergency services, to be replaced by new conditions.

However, some residents have already expressed upset at the proposals, adding objections to the application on Three Rivers District Council’s licencing portal.

One Gypsy Lane resident said: “Loud nuisance noise is already a regular occurrence from the premises.

“Noise, public addresses, and music are regularly so loud as to be disturbing inside our house. Complaints directly to the hotel generally go unremedied.”

Another stated: “In 13 years of living on Fernhills, we’ve never experienced as much noise disturbance from overly loud music as we have since the current company took over running Hunton Park.”

Hunton Park Hotel has been contacted for comment.
