The manager of Aspire Leisure Centre in Stanmore is running the London Marathon to raise money to support Aspire and their work with those paralysed by spinal cord injuries.
Dean Tearle, who has worked at Aspire for the past seven years, has had the opportunity to see the amazing work the charity does up close.
Through various projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 50,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK, from those who recently suffered injuries and are in hospital, to those who need support throughout their life.
The support allows those with injuries to lead fulfilling and independent lives in their homes with their families, in the workplace, and in leisure time.
Dean said: “For years, I have made the trip to London with my family to watch the runners in the marathon, cheering them on as they go. This year, I turned 40 and signing up to run the London Marathon was top of my bucket list.
“The training is going to be extremely hard, but I can’t wait to get to the start line on April 23.”
