It was lights, camera, and a lot of action at Hatch End Lawn Tennis Club (HELTC) as they held an inaugural switch-on celebration to mark the installation of their new LED floodlights.
On Tuesday, May 6, the event began with an impressive display of skill and talent on the courts from junior members of the club.
HELTC welcomed David Simmonds CBE, MP for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, and Hatch End councillor Matthew Goodwin-Freeman to turn on the floodlights for the first time.
With lights on, members proudly marked the 100th anniversary of the club, which has been “a cornerstone of the local community since 1925”.
A drone flew over the newly lit courts, capturing HELTC members arranged in the shape of ‘100’ to celebrate the anniversary.
The club offers programmes for all ages and skill levels, and now boasts seven artificial grass courts with floodlights, alongside a newly refurbished clubhouse.
