LIGHTS OUT: Hemel Hempstead dress shop closes after four years in business

Published on: 13th November 2020   |   By: Lizzie Ellis   |   Category: Uncategorized

Hemel Hempstead sisters Abbey and Ellen announced last month the permanent closure of their gown wear business, Abbelle.

Ellen said: “Like many other family-run businesses, we had to close Abbelle indefinitely due to Covid-19, which I’m sure you can imagine was incredibly difficult and heartbreaking for us.”

Abbelle first opened in Hemel Hempstead Old Town in 2016, selling dresses for proms, parties, cruises and weddings.

The sisters announced the closure on Abbelle’s Facebook page last month:

“It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we are having to announce the closure of Abbelle.

We have had the most amazing four years but unfortunately, Covid-19 has had a detrimental effect on our business. This has resulted in us having no other choice but to close.

We would like to thank all of our customers and everyone who has supported us on this amazing journey.”

The entrepreneurial sisters were quick to bounce back, and already planning their next business venture.

Abbey told HemelNews: “We have set up a new company called Wild Ruby Blossom, selling bespoke dried floral bouquets. We are still in the early stages of setting up but we are incredibly excited for what the future holds.”
