KNIFE ARCH: Hemel Hempstead police team raises awareness of dangers of carrying knives

Published on: 3rd June 2023   |   By: Megan Milstead   |   Category: Uncategorized

Officers from the Hemel Hempstead Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) held a knife arch operation at West Herts College on April 25.

The operation was part of continued work aiming to raise awareness of the dangers of carrying a knife. A total of 300 students walked through the arch and 60 students were also checked at random with a handheld wand.

Officers confirmed that no knives or weapons were discovered.

PC Attila Cseh, of Hemel Hempstead SNT, said: “Knife crime remains relatively low in the county, but we are not complacent and will continue to engage with young people to highlight the dangers of carrying knives and the implications it can have.

“Operations such as this send out the message that knives in our communities will not be tolerated. It is very encouraging that no knives were discovered during the operation. There has also been a lot of positive feedback from the students who took part.”

If you have concerns or information about someone carrying knives, call 101 or 999 in an emergency.
