Dacorum’s Mayor, Cllr Penny Hearn, will be the first person to have her picture taken with the new village sign in King’s Landing next week (February 11). Kings Langley is being re-named King’s Landing, Capital of Westeros in HBO’s Game of Thrones, from February 11-23 to mark the DVD and Blu-ray launch of season three Game of Thrones on February 17. And fans that are keen to visit the temporary capital of Westeros and snap a selfie next to the village sign are in with a chance of winning some Game of Thrones merchandise. The local councillor who has been supporting the re-naming, Cllr Alan Anderson, said, “Kings Langley was involved in a real dynastic struggle of the Plantagenet era and this will be an interesting case of history imitating fiction.” To be in with the chance of winning some Game of Thrones merchandise, fans and visitors are encouraged to Tweet a picture of themselves at the sign using #KingsLandingUK.
