The coach of the Abbots Youth Football Club Under 16 team has raised more than £2,000 for Diabetes UK by running two ultra-marathons in two days.
Spencer Hoadly, who has Type 1 Diabetes, completed the 100km Yorkshire Challenge on July 17 and July 18 having trained since last December.
The coach said: “I saw this ultra Yorkshire challenge and thought it would push me to my limits as a Type 1 diabetic and as a human being.
“As a Type 1 diabetic, throughout my childhood I always wanted to be normal, so was always the one pushing everything to the limits.
“It took me a long time to come to terms with being diabetic. I’m still trying to push myself in good ways: healthy eating, training – and I wanted to show new diabetics that anything is possible as a Type 1.”
Spencer completed the first half of the 100km in eight hours and 19 minutes, then completed the second in eight hours and 55 minutes the next day.
He added: “If you can donate any amount to Diabetes UK, I will greatly appreciate it.
