Earlier this month, The Verden Gallery at the Heath Robinson Museum in Pinner hosted a solo collection of work by local artist Alex Cazzato, entitled Reach Before the Sun Sets.
Alex has described his latest collection of work as exploring themes of mental health and wanting to balance moments of suffering with optimism.
Alex said: “The moment the artwork is all up on show, it plays a nice reminder of the efforts put in to get to this stage in my ongoing journey being an artist. This event was a collaborative effort and would have not been possible without the support and help of those closest to me.
“Hearing people’s comments on what the artwork communicated reaffirmed my own judgments and relations to the messages I wanted to portray. For me, the positive reviews and compliments allow me to progress as a creative because I feel more confident and comfortable in sharing my own vulnerabilities and turning them into artistic expressions.
“I had real insightful discussions with people giving their own thoughts and sharing personal experiences in moments they could relate to the stories being told in the artwork.
“In the space of three days of the show, I got to sit with a year’s worth of practice and I could almost time stamp the moments of struggles and triumph personally through the lens and times I was working on different pictures”
Alex hopes to be exhibiting again in the Spring, and information about his work can be found at www.instagram.com/alex_cazzato1
