Late Christmas legend Dave Press’ last light switch-on was a huge success, raising well over a grand for charity.
Battlers Green Drive resident Dave Press put up his iconic Christmas lights for over 25 years at his home before he sadly passed away on November 5, 2019.
His last wish was for the Christmas lights to go ahead for one final year at his home, and for all money raised by the switch-on event to go to Peace Hospice Care, who looked after him while he was unwell. His family, friends and volunteers from Radlett and surrounding areas banded together to make sure the switch-on took place on December 1, raising over a grand in the process.
While the official amount of cash raised hasn’t been revealed yet, just over £1,000 has been donated to a JustGiving page set up in Dave’s name and volunteer Tanya Coxill said there were lots of notes going into the collection boxes at the switch-on. Furthermore, over £400 was raised at Dave’s funeral last month.
