Hundreds attend Kings Langley WW1 commemorations

Published on: 20th October 2017   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category:

Hundreds of people fell silent in Kings Langley last night (Monday) to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. The evening started in the village garden with war songs from the Kings Langley Community Choir, a selection of war poems and a reading of the Roll of Honour to commemorate all those killed in the conflict from Abbots Langley, Kings Langley and Langlebury. Crowds then moved to the war memorial in All Saints Church for wreath laying and a turning out of the lights to symbolise the moment war was declared on Germany a hundred years previously. The evening was the culmination of a weekend of commemorations in the two villages. What did you make of the evening? How was your family affected by the First World War? Email tim@mynewsmag.co.uk
